Richard P. Beaulieu, Jr., CLU®, ChFC®, AIF®

Managing Partner

Rick Beaulieu began working in the financial services industry in 1986, an industry he has known all his life. He attributes his work ethic and devotion to client care to the example set by his father, and he thrives on being an integral part of each client’s financial success. In 1990 Rick joined Independence Financial Partners, becoming a Managing Partner in 2002.

As Managing Partner, Rick divides his time between advising clients and overseeing a team of financial professionals that make up the largest independent advisory firm in Rhode Island.

Early in his career Rick learned the importance of providing clients with the highest level of service. It’s the same philosophy he leaned from his dad, responding personally to requests and doing the little things that demonstrate how much he cares—everything from returning a call before business hours, stopping by a client’s home to pick up an important document, to his readiness to answer questions. Rick is quick to help people navigate a variety of situations from advice about leasing a car to guidance in purchasing an investment property.

Through the years IFP has grown and developed, to become an independent advisory practice; Rick has played an active part in this growth. He has a passion for helping clients achieve financial well-being. Rick says that a fundamental part of his investment philosophy is “striving to build portfolios that help protect clients from downside risks,” as well as portfolios that seek to provide sustainable income for clients during their retirement. He brings a coaching mentality to working with people, engaging them in the process as they increase their financial knowledge.

Rick graduated from University of Rhode Island with a BS in Finance and Insurance and joined Independence Financial Partners after working in Boston for five years with the Mutual Funds division of John Hancock. He is a Qualifying Member of the *Court of the Table and Life Member of the Million Dollar Round Table; he belongs to the Rhode Island Society of Financial Service Professionals, and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.

Rick and his wife, Leslie, also a financial professional at IFP, live in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Both of Rick and Leslie’s daughters have pursued careers in the financial world: Jillian is a financial accountant for an investment company and Sarah is an investment professional for an ESG (Environmental, Social Governance) investment firm. Outside the office, Rick supports various charities, and serves as a volunteer and mentor to business students at the University of Rhode Island. He enjoys golf, time spent downhill skiing with his family. On weekends, Rick can be found preparing for a triathlon or enjoying the ocean. An avid yachtsman, Rick has captained vessels up and down the east coast and abroad.
