Al Cumplido is the Director of Investment Strategy of Independence Financial Partners, where he leads the firm’s market research efforts and helps shape the investment strategies used by affiliated advisors. He assists IFP advisors as well as his own clients with broad based market research analysis, asset allocation strategy, and portfolio construction.
As chair of IFP's Investment Advisory Board, Al gathers various investment thought leaders, CFA's, PhD's, Portfolio Managers, and other high level investment talent from across the country to stress test IFP's research and to discuss the topics that matter to IFP Advisors and their clients.
Al has been with IFP since 2011, after receiving his B.A. in Resource Economics from University of Massachusetts Amherst. His deep passion for the financial markets and love for learning about business and investments began years earlier when, at age 13, he purchased his first stock.
He has a personal mission to improve the lives of as many people as he can through finance. His personal philosophy meshes with that of the firm, that “complex does not necessarily have to mean complicated. While the market can be complex, good advice doesn’t have to be. . . but it does require a consistent approach and emotional stability.”
In addition to his role at IFP, Al is also the founder of AMP Consulting Group, an independent outsourced CIO practice that provides market research, commentary, and portfolio management services to independent advisors throughout New England.
Al is a CFA Charterholder, President of the CFA Society Providence, State Investment Commission Member for Rhode Island State Pension System, and a board member of Junior Achievement. Outside the office, Al enjoys spending time with his wife, Jaya, and daughter Lyla.
